Crocheted Childs Ribbed Hats

Here are some ribbed band hats I crocheted in several shades of yarn in child sizes. Here is a pretty colorful wool hat I crocheted with a ribbed band. I used my ribbed band hat pattern but only worked even on 58 stitches as of round 5 for a child’s size with a 5 mm (H) crochet hook. This resulted in a finished size of 17 inch Cir at band edge and 8 inches long that fit a 2 year old girl just fine.

Here is a closeup of the ribbing on the hat band with full pattern details below.

I used Patons North America Classic Wool Merino in Regency to crochet the hat. It took only about 2 ounces of yarn.

Then I crocheted a youth child’s hat following the child’s instructions in my pattern. I crocheted this hat even on 60 stitches following the pattern as written.

Finally here are a few baby sized hats I crocheted. I used the baby ribbed hat pattern to crochet these two hats. The first one is mainly purple with white. I worked even on 52 stitches for a bigger baby’s head with a finished size of 6 inches long by 14 inch cir. I then crocheted the last white baby hat basically following the pattern which resulted in a 1-2 month old size that is 6 inches long by 13.5 inch cir.

As you can see, you can use the ribbed band hat pattern to make many different looks to these crocheted hats. And by changing up the pattern just a bit, you can make smaller or larger children’s hats.
