Auction Bucket

For an upcoming Library fundraiser, I have been working on this auction bucket of items.

The bucket includes a recycled tote bag crocheted from plastic bags made into plarn, a potholder towel, a heart cloth, a bottle of wine, wooden spoons, candles, chocolates, and a crocheted dish scrubbie.

Here are photos of the potholder towel and the dish scrubbie I crocheted with cotton yarn and a strip of netting held together.

More Crocheted Hats

Here are some hat projects that I have crocheted lately for the local Veteran’s outreach program. Hats and other needed items are receive by the local Veteran’s staff and are given to Veterans at different events or outreach offices.

First is a basic black cap with two rows of silver yarn for a stripe. This project uses the free pattern found here.

Next is a striped hat that features a ribbed band. This hat uses the free crocheted ribbed hat pattern.

Below is a thick crocheted hat that uses front post double crochet (FP DC) stitching. The free crochet pattern is found here.

W4W 2022 Hat Drive

Warmth for Warriors (W4W) is once again having a hat drive for our troops and Veterans. Wool hats are used overseas and other blends of yarn hats are used stateside for our Veterans in hospitals, other VA facilities and outreach programs. Warmth for Warriors needs and accepts hats all year long. Here is the link to the 2022 hat drive that I am heading up.

Last year W4W received 2852 wool hats and 2074 in acrylic hats. We are excited to start crocheting and knitting hats for this year’s drive. Here is my first batch of hats that I just mailed off to W4W headquarters. You can also find W4W on Facebook here. Need a hat pattern? Check out our hat pattern page here for lots of ideas and free patterns.

Towel Toppers for Charity

Crocheted towel toppers are an excellent charity item. They are quick to crochet and are a desired item for charity fundraisers. They also make excellent gifts.

I have several different free crochet patterns for making towel-toppers. Here is a link to all of my towel topper patterns.

The next few towels use the pointed-handle towel topper pattern. These dollar store towels which once you add the crocheted towel-topper, really make a nice handmade gift.

Another is one of the new Christmas towels at the Dollar Tree, which makes a great candidate for a towel topper as shown here. The jingle bell closure adds a bonus for a Christmas-themed gift.

Next is a Fall themed towel that I got on clearance.

Recycling & Dishcloths

You may be wondering how recycling and dishcloths go together? Well I had received this pretty green glass jar with a flower arrangement in it recently. It is a lovely jar and I thought it would be a nice item to recycle and decorate for an upcoming charity fundraiser. So I rolled up a few crocheted dishcloths and placed them in the jar and I added an inspirational ribbon as an embellishment around the top. Here is the finished project which I call a recycled jar of cloths.

I also tried out a new dishcloth pattern called Ship’s Helm. This is a super easy and very fast pattern. Here are the three cloths I crocheted using the pattern.
