Recycled Plastic Granny Square Tote Bag

Here is my newest recycled plastic bag tote. It is crocheted using 4 colorful bags for the center granny square motifs. If you have lots of white plastic bags, this is an excellent way to use them up and still make an attractive and stylish tote bag. You only need 4 solid colored bags to crochet this plarn project along with about 30 white plastic bags.

This granny square tote features two longer straps so the bag can be carried over the shoulder. The 4 inch depth makes it handy for carrying books, your lunch, or anything else that you might like to use this cute tote for.

As always, please enjoy my free crochet pattern and happy green crafting to all!

Flower Power Plarn Tote Bag

It’s a Flower Power Plarn Tote Bag!

As I have stated before, white plastic bags are about all I can get on a consistent basis so here is my latest idea to bring more color and charm to my recycled tote bags. I added several colorful flowers that have been crocheted from recycled plastic bags. Since each flower takes only about one plastic bag, it is easy to add some bright and pretty flowers to a otherwise plain tote bag. To view the finished details of the above tote, just click on the photo to supersize it. I also added some ribbon and a bow tie at the center front of my recycled tote to complete the project.

Below you will find another addition to my library of plarn patterns that I offer here free. Here is the link to see a complete list of all my free patterns.

The Ultimate Grocery Bag

What would be the ultimate grocery bag? Of course in my opinion it would be made from recycled materials, be reusable, strong and very durable. What about free — yes that would be the ultimate. So here it is. It is crafted from recycled plastic bags, it is reusable over and over, doesn’t tear, and it reduces the use of bags from the grocery store. So it is a win-win bag. You win and the environment wins. It’s the ultimate bag!

This bag is created by crocheting with plastic bag yarn or plarn. I have a handy picture tutorial here if you need to know the steps to make your own plarn. It’s a fun and easy way to create a durable market bag as shown above. Plus it’s a great way to repurpose those plastic bags you may have stashed around the house.

I hope you enjoy this green and frugal project. Here is the free crochet pattern below.
