Patriotic Rectangle Granny Blanket

I meant to post my patriotic red, white, and blue rectangle granny for the fourth of July but got distracted. So a few days late but in honor of our Country’s freedom, here is my Veteran’s honor blanket.

This blanket was crocheted for the local Veteran’s outreach program and will be given to a Veteran who needs a blanket.

Finished size of this rectangle granny blanket is 40 inches by 50. I chained 41 to start and used this free rectangle granny blanket pattern from Suzetta Williams. I have made this pattern before and have a few modifications that you are read more about here.

Below is a closeup of a corner that shows the edging.

Walker Tote Bag

Here is a walker tote bag that I crocheted using red, white and blue yarns. I found these cute buttons at Walmart that I thought just looked right for this patriotic themed project.

Here is the link for the free walker-wheelchair tote bag pattern. This is an easy pattern that is crocheted using half double crochet (HDC) stitches and is worked in the round. The finished size for this walker carrier bag is 9.5″ long by 11.5″ wide.

These tote bags can be hung off a walker or

Patriotic Weekend

As we honor those who gave all, I created this post to showcase some patriotic craft ideas. First let us never forgot our Veterans this Memorial Day weekend. Remember and honor them not just this weekend but every day.

I wanted to share some of my patriotic projects that I have created over the years. Maybe you are looking for something in red, white and blue to make this weekend. Here are a few ideas to spur you on.

Here is a simple but easy crocheted flag dishcloth or washcloth project. It also makes a cool hotpad for any table or outdoor BBQ. The free crochet pattern is found here.

How about a patriotic crocheted wheelchair tote.

Christmas in July Stockings

Happy 4th of July! It’s a perfect time of the year to celebrate the 4th and Christmas in July with stockings. Of course stockings this time of year honor our country and our troops.

As we continue to make mini Christmas stockings for Warmth for Warriors, here are my latest using red, white, and blue yarn to crochet stockings. I used the fold-over option of this 6 inch Christmas stocking pattern to crochet these stockings.

Mods from original pattern: Work the toe portion of the crochet pattern as written in blue yarn,

Patriotic Crocheted Lapghan

Here is a patriotic lapghan blanket I just finished up for the Warmth for Warriors. Each year we have a blanket drive where people crochet, knit or sew blankets and lapghans for the troops and veterans. This is my patriotic blanket in honor of the 4th of July.

I took the original light & lacy baby blanket pattern and changed colors every 5 rows. I started with Red Heart yarn in red, then white and finally with blue. I crocheted 4 sets of 5 rows in each color ending with one last set of 5 rows in red yarn to finish off the blanket before adding the border. I then used the blue yarn to work the border.

Here is a closeup of the beginning of the pattern to show the detail of the stitch pattern.
