Heat Wave Crocheted Square

Here is a crocheted square pattern that I have tried and want to share my results. I love the center of this pattern with it’s spokes at the center. I first work the pattern with a scrap of cotton yarn in tie dye stripes. I set out to try the pattern and crochet just a dishcloth to see how I liked the pattern.

Here is the result of working the pattern to just row 8 of the original pattern using a H (5 mm) crochet hook. I then crocheted one row of single crochet for trim with white cotton yarn. The finished result is a 9 inch square dishcloth.

I next worked the full pattern square using different scraps of yarn I had on hand. I crocheted the pattern using a I (5.5 mm) crochet hook. I added a row 12 in Double Crochet (DC) to make it a true 12 inch square. For row 12 I worked a total of 40 stitch down each side

In Between Dishcloth Pattern

Keeping with my red, white, and blue patriotic theme, I present the In Between Dishcloth. I gave it that name as you double crochet the stitches in between each other for the main body of the cloth. The result is a simple but cute dishcloth pattern that works up fast and is easy to crochet.

The free crochet pattern below is written for the blue dishcloth as the main color. For the red dishcloth, you just substitute your main yarn using red cotton to start the dishcloth. Then trim around the red cloth using white and finishing with the blue cotton.

Basket Weave Dishcloths

Crocheting in a basket weave design creates a nice texture and makes for a pretty dishcloth. I tried my hand crocheting in basket weave to create these dishcloths. My friend Kristy helped me with her pattern for this basket weave design cloth. On the first one I crocheted, I did 4 rows in front post and back post sets.

Here is another crocheted dishcloth that I did following Kristy’s 3 row set pattern.

With Kristy’s permission, I have posted the basic crocheted basket weave pattern that she shared with me below.

Christmas Snowflakes

It’s Christmas Eve 2012 and so it seems appropriate to share some Christmas snowflakes. I crocheted these Christmas snowflakes for gifts this year. I made two potholders using this crocheted snowflake pattern. I worked the snowflake on the front panel only and then a solid single crochet piece for the back of the potholders. The back panel is 27 stitches wide for 30 rows using a G hook.

Then I crocheted just the snowflake using an H (5 mm) crochet hook to create a dishcloth. The result is a 8-1/2 inch square cloth. I added the dishcloth along with

Here is my latest free crochet washcloth or dishcloth pattern. This cloth represents a flag and I was inspired by the flag afghan square that was featured over at Crochet ‘N’ More. I have been making facecloths for charity and thought this would make a wonderful cloth with its patriotic theme.
