Unicorn Baby Round Ripple

Here is a baby blanket I crocheted in a round ripple pattern. I used a Lion Brand Mandala yarn cake in colorway Unicorn to crochet this blanket. I did use a scrap of pink yarn at the center to get things started.

I finished the round ripple with the pink shade that I pulled out of the center of the cake. I wanted to end round ripple blanket with the blues all in one round. Then I pulled out the pink to finish the round ripple with a round of single crochet for trim.

Finished width is 35 inches and I do have a bit of the Mandala cake of yarn left to start another blanket. This blanket is going to a favorite NICU baby blanket drive over at Crochetville.

Purple Haze Flower Square

I crocheted this pretty flower square using the Golden Harvest pattern by AG Handmades. It is a lovely crochet square featuring raised flower petals in the center. I thought it would be a beautiful center square for a baby blanket in purple.

First here is my finished square I crocheted following the pattern with medium weight yarn and an I (5.5 mm) crochet hook. I love the pattern but not sure when you are suppose to switch back to work on the front of square. I did at color change of row 8. At row 8, I worked on the front with the petals facing. Not sure if this is correct but my square turned out fine to me so I am satisfied with how I worked the pattern.

So to clarify I worked on the front side of square at row 8. On the final row, I worked sc’s around and did only sc, ch 2, sc in the corners with the Red Heart Purple Haze Shimmer yarn to complete the square. Square measures 6.5 inches wide at this point.

Once I had the pretty center square done, I added granny stitching around with lilac and white yarn finishing with the same shimmer yarn for the final trim row. Here is the a photo of the completed Purple Haze Baby Blanket.

Magic Wheel Round Ripple Blanket

Crocheting round ripple blankets are always one of my favorite patterns. I love making round ripples and always look forward to the different color combinations that are created with a variety of yarns.

I crocheted the center of this RR using some leftover Caron blue yarn before using a Yarn Bee Sugarwheel. The Sugarwheel is a new yarn that comes in a pretty yarn cake that is naturally variegated. This colorway is called “That’s my Jam.” It worked great for my small blanket that will be used for donation to Warmth for Warriors. I added some additional yarn from my stash in black and blues to finish off the blanket.

Final size is 43 inches across which should be a good size for a wheelchair blanket or lapghan. Warmth for Warriors collects lapghans and blankets all year long for use in VA hospitals, VA nursing homes, VA homeless shelters and/or base hospitals. If you are interested in helping our group,

Lumberjack Flannelghan Lapghan

The lumberjack flannelghan is a beautiful blanket pattern and I just love the look of it. There are many different color combinations that can be crocheted to make this blanket. I used soft navy and white Red Heart yarn to crochet my blanket.

Here is the link to the original lumberjack flannelghan pattern. The original pattern makes a 5 x 7 foot blanket. I wanted to crochet a small blanket that would be a lapghan size.

My lapghan was crocheted using a N (9 mm) hook with two strands of yarn held together. I played around with the pattern to make the squares smaller so I could crochet a lapghan sized blanket. I chained 16 to start and did 8 rows of DC for the first block. There are 15 DC’s on each row counting the Ch-2 at the beginning of the row. I crocheted 8 rows for each color square with a total of 5 squares for each strip. Each strip is about 7 inches wide. There are a total of 5 strips in my lapghan blanket.

V Stitch Blanket and Scarf Pattern

I have a new crochet stitch that I am just in love with. It is called the V Stitch and it is very easy and simple to crochet many different projects using this stitch. I have already used the stitch pattern to make a blanket and a scarf.

There are several different versions of the V Stitch and I do mine without a chain stitch between my double crochet stitches. It makes for a less-holey project and works up faster for me without having to chain between stitches.

To crochet the small blanket or lapghan, I chained 101 stitches to start with a H (5 mm) crochet hook.
