Von-Cott Baby Blue Set

I crocheted this baby gift set using some of my vintage Von-Cott sport yarn that I had in my stash. I just love the shade of this sport weight cotton yarn.

The baby booties were crocheted using my cuffed baby sock booties pattern and the hat is my baby ribbed hat pattern. I did work a few extra increases until I worked the hat even on 56 stitches so my hat is about 14 inches wide.

To finish off the set I crocheted one of my diagonal baby bibs using this free crochet bib pattern. I did 20 rows before adding the trim edging row for the bib due to the sport weight yarn.

Crocodile Baby Bib Pattern

One of my goals this year was to learn the crocodile stitch. I watched several you-tube videos on the stitch and while there are a few different variations, the stitch is generally crocheted the same. Some people work a chain stitch between scales and others end the rows a little differently.

Here is a quick and simple little crocheted baby bib pattern I came up with using the crocodile stitch. If you are learning this stitch for the first time, you may find this instructional post and video helpful as you learn the stitch. The crocodile stitch is easy once you get the hang of working the base rows and scale rows. I hope you enjoy crocheting the baby bib pattern and working the crocodile stitch.


Crocodile Baby Bib Pattern

I (5.5 mm) hook and H (5 mm) hook for edging
1-3/4 oz / 80 yards of Cotton Yarn (Sugar’n Cream Pinky Stripes used)

Baby bib measures 7 inches wide x 7 inches long with 9 inch ties.

Directions:
Row 1
With I hook, Ch 18 loosely. Dc in 3rd chain from hook.
*Ch 2, Skip 2 Ch, 2 Dc* repeat until the end of the chain. (6 2-Dc sets)

T-Yarn Flower Baby Bib

Crafting with recycled materials is so addicting. I’m back with another green crafting project using a thrift store t-shirt I got free as it had a bleach stain. It was a pretty pink so I thought it would make a nice baby bib. This baby bib is crocheted from the t-yarn I created from the old t-shirt. Here is my tutorial on how I create t-yarn and how I curl it before crocheting. This baby bib uses about half of an adult sized seamless-sides t-shirt which has been cut into 1/4″ wide strips.

I had shared another t-yarn baby bib before but this crochet pattern has been simplified and makes for an even quicker project. I added flowers as an extra embellishment. I hope you enjoy this free baby bib pattern.

Materials needed:
1) T-shirt cut into T-yarn approx. 1/4″ wide
2) Straps 12″ long cut from hem of T-shirt
Scrap piece of yarn for flowers

Hook:
H (5 mm) USA size crochet hook

Description:
Baby Bib measures 9 inches across and 8 inches long from neck edge to bottom center
Straps are 12 inches long each

Directions:
Ch 18

Recycled Denim Baby Bibs

This month over at the Trash to Treasures group on Ravelry we are having a fabric and clothing scraps challenge. So I broke out some old jeans I have been saving and recycled them into some baby bibs.

The first bib is larger and I used the trimmed side seams from a pair of jeans for the bib ties. This bib is more suitable for an older baby or toddler.


My next bib is smaller and features ribbon for the ties. I thought the ribbon would be gentler for a younger baby’s skin than the denim ties.

Diagonal Cotton Baby Bib Pattern

Here is my diagonal cotton baby bib pattern. It is a variation of my t-yarn baby bib I posted recently. I wanted to crochet a cotton bib and came up with this pattern after a little work. I wanted to create a pattern using regular cotton yarn as I know that not everyone wants to crochet with recycled t-shirt yarn. So I present the diagonal cotton baby bib and hope you enjoy working this quick crochet pattern.

Free Crocheted Diagonal Baby Bib Pattern

Materials needed:
Main color cotton yarn 1-1/3 ozs
Contrasting trim yarn approx. 1/2 oz

Hook:
H (5 mm) USA size crochet hook

Description:
Baby Bib measures 10″ across and 8″ long from neck edge to bottom center
(5-12 month size shown in parentheses is 11″ across and 9″ long)
Straps are 10″ long each

Directions:
Ch 18 for Newborn to 4 month old (Ch 20 for 5-12 month larger size bib.)
