Fun Fur Trimmed Gloves

Here is a quick and easy little way to add trim to some kid’s or adult gloves. I used fun fur that I got at the dollar store to trim these simple gloves.

Here are a few photos showing the single crocheting around the edge of the gloves. Click on any of the photos to enlarge the images. This project requires one smaller crochet hook such as an E USA hook and one G crochet hook. You crochet one row of single crochet stitches around the top edge of each glove.

Insert small crochet hook (E hook) into the top edge of glove as shown. Pull up yarn through the hole you make with the smaller hook and then using G crochet hook finish the single crochet (SC) stitch.

I leave the G hook in the prior stitch to hold it in place until I am ready to finish the next single crochet stitch. Just continue around

Mother Bear Hoodie

I am crocheting teddy bears for the Mother Bear Project and have some extra clothing ideas to share. I sent for the crocheted seamless bear pattern and found the pattern very easy to follow with lots of opportunities to make variations on the bear’s clothing. A group over at Ravelry is having a KAL/CAL for the Mother Bears and there are some amazing ideas being shared over there if you’d like to check it out. Here is the link to the group.


After seeing another crafter make an adorable hoodie, I knew I just had to make a bear with a hoodie too. If you knit there are instructions for the Bears in the Hood found here but I only crochet so I had to improvise and create a hoodie for my bear.

So after a little trial and error here are the pattern details for a crocheted Mother Bear hoodie.

Country Granny Dishcloth

This is a basic granny stitch dishcloth but with a twist on the beginning round. I crocheted additional stitches to create a wider center to give the dishcloth a flower petal look. Plus it is a great pattern for using scraps of cotton yarn to crochet a cute-looking dishcloth.

Hook: H (5 mm) US sized crochet hook
Size: 8.5 inch square with one row of edging or 9 inch square dishcloth if two rows of edging trim added.

Christmas Towel Toppers

Crocheting towel toppers for Christmas gifts has been at the top of my project list this year. Here are a few towels I made using the double layered method that requires no cutting or sewing. Just click on the link for a picture tutorial that will show how easy these double layer towels can be crocheted. I love these towels as they are double thick and hold up longer than the thin kitchen towels.

All of these towel toppers were crocheted using the waffle towel topper pattern. The red Christmas tree towel is a smaller novelty towel that I bought for 80 cents each. Just fold the towel in half

Crocheted Arm Sling

Here is a crocheted arm sling project I create for my 5 year old granddaughter who broke her arm. I looked around and couldn’t find a pattern so just started out winging it in an effort to come up with something that would work and support her arm. As she broke bones in both upper and lower right arm, the cast is heavy and the sling needed to be comfortable to wear with a wide strap around the neck and shoulder.

I have written up the crochet directions for this arm sling but I want to warn everyone that it’s only a guideline. You want to make sure what length you need the arm portion and the strap length before you cut off any yarn. I left my yarn attached for the shoulder strap as I had to rework it several times when I actually was able to have a fitting with my granddaughter. Also because yarn stretches I had to shorten the length by several inches on the strap to get the right drop for the crocheted sling. So just make sure you check the fit before finalizing your arm sling. But this should provide people with a pattern to help crochet your arm sling.

Arm Sling Pattern

Materials:
3-4 ozs Red Heart Worst Weight Yarn (pink)
Buckle (1 to 1-1/2″ wide)
Hook: H (5 mm) crochet hook

Description:
Arm Sling:
10-1/2″ long from elbow to wrist by 5-1/2″ tall with 10 – 14″ strap.
Strap at shoulder is 5 inches wide and then 1-1/2″ wide at buckle.
