Latest Mother Bears

Here are bears number 25 and 26 I crocheted for the Mother Bear Project. This is a charity that is near and dear to my heart. The first bear features a colorful shirt that I crocheted using this bear skirt pattern with a yarn bear kit that Delights sent me for winning a Bingo on Ravelry. The kit included the pretty scarf that matched the yarn so it all worked into a cute little outfit for my bear.

Next is my little Jammie bear that I crocheted with MillaMia Yarn that was donated by LoveCrochet.com for my Mother Bear #26. My Jammie bear is crocheted seamless changing yarn every 2 rows. This wool yarn is very soft and super nice to work with.

I added a ruffle collar to my Jammie bear by crocheting Sc, skip 1 st, 6 DC, skip 1 st, repeat around the neck. I then just crocheted a chain and SC down the chain

Purple Haze Flower Square

I crocheted this pretty flower square using the Golden Harvest pattern by AG Handmades. It is a lovely crochet square featuring raised flower petals in the center. I thought it would be a beautiful center square for a baby blanket in purple.

First here is my finished square I crocheted following the pattern with medium weight yarn and an I (5.5 mm) crochet hook. I love the pattern but not sure when you are suppose to switch back to work on the front of square. I did at color change of row 8. At row 8, I worked on the front with the petals facing. Not sure if this is correct but my square turned out fine to me so I am satisfied with how I worked the pattern.

So to clarify I worked on the front side of square at row 8. On the final row, I worked sc’s around and did only sc, ch 2, sc in the corners with the Red Heart Purple Haze Shimmer yarn to complete the square. Square measures 6.5 inches wide at this point.

Once I had the pretty center square done, I added granny stitching around with lilac and white yarn finishing with the same shimmer yarn for the final trim row. Here is the a photo of the completed Purple Haze Baby Blanket.

Crocheted Mandala Cloths

Crocheting Mandala cloths has been such a fun adventure. I love how you can mix and match colors to create beautiful patterns. Here is a roundup of all the different Mandalas I crocheted this week.

This pastel Mandala cloth was crocheted using the Magnolia Mandala pattern. I crocheted this cloth using sugar’n cream cotton scraps. My finished cloth is 11.5 inches wide. It is such a pretty cloth and would make a beautiful hotpad or just as a decorative centerpiece on a table.

Next I crocheted several more Mandalas using Lucienne’s Summer Mandala pattern. My dishcloths were all just crocheted to part 1 of the original pattern which has up to 4 parts for a very large Mandala.

Here are a few dishcloths I crocheted with a 4 mm and 5 mm crochet hooks.

Magic Wheel Round Ripple Blanket

Crocheting round ripple blankets are always one of my favorite patterns. I love making round ripples and always look forward to the different color combinations that are created with a variety of yarns.

I crocheted the center of this RR using some leftover Caron blue yarn before using a Yarn Bee Sugarwheel. The Sugarwheel is a new yarn that comes in a pretty yarn cake that is naturally variegated. This colorway is called “That’s my Jam.” It worked great for my small blanket that will be used for donation to Warmth for Warriors. I added some additional yarn from my stash in black and blues to finish off the blanket.

Final size is 43 inches across which should be a good size for a wheelchair blanket or lapghan. Warmth for Warriors collects lapghans and blankets all year long for use in VA hospitals, VA nursing homes, VA homeless shelters and/or base hospitals. If you are interested in helping our group,

I just took a break from my other crocheting to make a bear for the Mother Bear Project. Meet Sunshine bear crocheted seamless and in the round. He’s a bare bear crocheted in his jammies with sleepy eyes.
