Cabled Scarf

I created this cabled scarf pattern last year and decided it was time to crochet another scarf using it. The free crochet pattern is found here. It is an simple pattern with repeats that makes it fast and easy to crochet.

I used an I hook and some donated yarn to crochet this scarf for a local Veteran’s Outreach Program. I know it is getting warmer but hopefully someone will love the red with black striped scarf to keep them warm in the future.

The finished size is 7 inches wide by 62 inches long. Here is one more photo taken of the scarf.

Crocheted Poppy Dishcloths

I haven’t crocheted any dishcloths in quite a while. I picked up this pretty ball of Sugar’n Cream cotton in colorway Poppy this last week. I figured it was time to break out some oldie but goodie dishcloth patterns of mine. So here is a 4-pointed cotton dishcloth crocheted using my pointed granny dishcloth pattern.

Next is a star dishcloth that I crocheted with white cotton along with the Poppy colored cotton that was leftover from the above project. I didn’t have enough yarn to do the complete dishcloth with the Poppy so I added white for the center and outer rounds. Here is the link to the free star dishcloth pattern.

Below are both dishcloths shown together.

Patriotic Weekend

As we honor those who gave all, I created this post to showcase some patriotic craft ideas. First let us never forgot our Veterans this Memorial Day weekend. Remember and honor them not just this weekend but every day.

I wanted to share some of my patriotic projects that I have created over the years. Maybe you are looking for something in red, white and blue to make this weekend. Here are a few ideas to spur you on.

Here is a simple but easy crocheted flag dishcloth or washcloth project. It also makes a cool hotpad for any table or outdoor BBQ. The free crochet pattern is found here.

How about a patriotic crocheted wheelchair tote.

Recycled Wine Tote Bag

Here is my latest recycled bag project. It’s a smaller version of Japanese knot bag wine tote that I crocheted a few years ago. For this plarn wine tote, I crocheted it a few stitches less around and only went up to a standing height of 9.5 inches.

The full written free Japanese Knot Plarn Tote pattern is found here. Just remember for this smaller tote bag use a K (6.5 mm) crochet hook. Adjust the original pattern as desired to reach the size for the tote that you need. The beauty in these patterns is that you can always tweak them to get the desired outcomes.

Below is a photo of my recycled wine tote with a small bottle of wine.
