Tarn Ice Brick Cozy

This ice cozy was crocheted from a T-shirt cut into strips to create T-yarn or tarn. I often use an icy brick in my lunch bag and wanted a little cozy for it. The ice block gets wet and has condensation after a while in my lunch bag. Now with the tarn ice cozy, it works wonderfully to keep my lunch bag dry and to capture the condensation from the ice brick.

I cut my T-shirt strips very narrow to make this cozy. Here is my T-yarn tutorial showing how I cut and stretch my strips to create what I like to call curled T-yarn. The only change you want to make for this project is to cut your strips only about 1/4 inch wide. I know this is narrow but if you cut slowing and carefully it works out so you have a nice thin strand to crochet with.

I used the following soap saver pattern to crochet my ice brick cozy. This tarn project and free crochet pattern was a Tarn Along over Recycled into Yarn site. The final measurements are 6 inches long by 3-1/2 inches wide. I did make mine a bit bigger at the beginning and crocheted 3 DC’s in the corners so the icy block would fit and its plenty big. I have 28 stitches in the bag around with 8 crowns at the top.

The tarn cozy was made with less than one T-shirt and could be used for an ice cozy as I have done, a soap saver, or even an i-Phone holder as shown here that Teresa did in the original Tarn Along.

Fashion Doll Bloomers

Here is a quick crochet pattern for bloomers or panties for a fashion doll. In a recent post, I crocheted a dress for a 14-inch fashion doll. I needed some bloomers for under my doll’s dress and came up with these simple but effective panties for my doll.

The 14-inch fashion doll has a waist of 5 inches and 7 inches around at the hips. The crochet pattern below has bloomers that will fit a 14-inch doll. Then I have listed the changes necessary for a 11-1/2 inch tall Barbie fashion doll that has a 3-1/2 inch waist and 5-1/4 inches around at hips.

These bloomers were designed to cover the doll’s bottom under a dress and aren’t all that fancy. I just wanted a simple quick pattern for some panties and this crochet pattern fits that purpose. The waist maybe a bit loose but its snug enough at the hips to hold the bloomers in place without elastic. I hope you find the free pattern useful and happy crocheting to all.

Crocheted Star Facecloth Pattern

I have been crocheting many washcloths and facecloths lately. I want to share this quick little crochet pattern for a star shaped facecloth. It’s a variation of my star dishcloth pattern but smaller. I love these smaller cloths as they make wonderful facecloths. Not too big and they work up so quickly. Also they are great for using those scrap pieces of cotton that you have leftover in your stash.

Each cloth measures about 7 inches from the top corner to the lower corner. I believe you only need a little over an ounce of cotton to do each facecloth. Have fun and mix and match the colors to create your own facecloths. As always, happy crocheting and I hope you enjoy the free pattern below.

Plarn Tape Measure Covers

Tape measure covers or TMC are a new and fun project that Delights has been working on over at Ravelry. She has crocheted some adorable covers that with her permission I will share a few photos of her work below. You can follow the TMC Happening here over at Ravelry.

Delights and I teamed up and crocheted a few plarn TMC projects together. I made a few shells from recycled plastic bags and sent them to her to add her beautiful flowers and other decorations that she is so skilled at doing.

Here is Delight’s TMC picture tutorial. For the plarn TMC shell, I used a H hook and did only 10 HDC stitches for round 1.
